Appendix 14 The location of property to be returned to the Hospitallers
This appendix lists the location of property itemised in the letter patent of 2 April 1557 as to be returned to the Hospitallers, and compares that listing with those in the Inquest of 1185, the accounts of the former Templar estates of 1308, the Report of 1338 and the Valor ecclesiasticus of 1535.
Settlements are recorded in the documents as dated below. Where a place name is rendered in italics it is not recorded in the Inquest of 1185, the estate accounts of 1308–13, the Report of 1338 or the Valor ecclesiasticus of 1535 but it is recorded in the letter patent of 2 April 1557.

In the letter patent of 2 April 1557, 155 vills were listed within Lincolnshire to be returned to the Hospitallers: Willoughton 72, Temple Bruer 78, Eagle 5 (each total includes the preceptory).
Of the 155 vills listed in 1557, 80 were recorded in the Inquest of 1195 as locations where there was Templar property.
Of the 155 vills listed in 1557, only 25 were recorded in the Valor ecclesiasticus of 1535; of those, 8 were not recorded in the Inquest of 1185.
Of the 155 vills listed in the letter patent of 1557, 60 do not appear in the records of 1185, 1308, 1338 or 1535. Shown in italics in the list.
